"Why do you charge $40 for the Four Minute Books Lifetime Membership?"
"Good question," I would say - if I didn't think $40 to get a lifetime membership to anything is dirt cheap.
That said, $40 is a meaningful amount to help us run our business. Writing new summaries, adding audio, creating animated videos, all of these things cost thousands of dollars each month - and that's before server costs, web hosting, bug fixes, etc.
If you enjoy the site, getting this deal is a great way to support our work and get lots more content in the future!
Here are some other common questions we get about the membership:
- How long will this deal last? We're not sure, but definitely not forever. We're always working on new income streams, and since we're a tiny team, we have to focus on what works best. Let's see if this one will stand the test of time.
- How much is your stuff really worth? A good writer costs $50/hr on the low end. Even if it takes them just 3 hours to write each summary, that's already more than $150,000 we spent on our 1,000-summary catalog. If you consider all of our unpaid hours, it's way more.
- Do you offer other membership tiers? 90%+ of people chose the $40 lifetime deal when we offered tiers - so we decided to make that the only one!
- Can I download all the files and keep them forever? Yes. This is important to us. I hate when companies remove my access to things I once "owned" while paying their subscription. You can download all of our mp3s and PDFs, make copies for your own use, and store them on your device forever. We update the big files every quarter or so, but we do want you to be in charge of how you use everything.
- What software and tools do I need to get the most out of your membership? Our podcast link works with any podcast app where you can add a custom RSS feed. You'll need a free Dropbox and Evernote account to use those versions of the library, but the big ZIP downloads are always freely accessible.
- Will you show me how to use everything? Of course. We made video tutorials for every single feature, and we do offer customer support as well.
- How do you recommend one use the membership? I would add Four Minute Audiobooks to my podcast app, pick and download 7 titles each week, and then listen to one each day, maybe after lunch or on a short walk. I would also install the Dropbox app and activate notifications. Then, I would decide if new titles interest me as they appear and try to read 1-2 PDFs whenever new updates are synced.
- Do you offer a money-back guarantee? Of course, the standard 30-day money-back applies. If you're not happy, we'll try to help you fix it, and if we can't, we'll give you a full refund without making a fuss.
