Singapore Airlines Launches Investigation into Fatal Turbulence Incident

Investigations are underway after a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore encountered severe turbulence on Tuesday, resulting in one fatality and dozens of injuries. Flight SQ321, a Boeing 777-300ER carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew, was diverted to Bangkok for an emergency landing after experiencing sudden, extreme atmospheric disturbances over the Irrawaddy Basin. Preliminary reports indicate the aircraft dropped significantly in altitude, causing unrestrained passengers and crew to be thrown toward the cabin ceiling. Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong issued a formal apology and stated the company is providing full support to those affected. While aviation experts note that modern aircraft are designed to withstand severe stress, this incident has renewed discussions regarding the impact of clear-air turbulence and the importance of seatbelt safety throughout the duration of a flight.
